Hi everyone, greeting from the campus~
This is the artist that I got inspiration from for my first project;. Since I'm still at Oberlin but with fewer people, it's a good chance to continue shooting photos of houses and playing around with light and shadow cast by the structures; so I took another look at Henry Wessel, whose style is both street and topography in my opinion.
It's interesting that he has both a series on California (where sunlight was direct almost without any cloud, I actually find it difficult shooting in this situation) and on night scene (with long exposure). In both cases, he made astonishing frames with light and shadow giving banal subject interesting meaning. The shadows in his photos just extend the subject to another story.
I also love his Real Estate House series, in which he took color photos of houses while just sitting in his car. The straing-on view of the house simulates the pictures in the real estate, putting all the features of a house into one frame. They look like an exhibition.
