Jake Artist Inspo - Joyce Pensato

Joyce Pensato (1941 - 2019) was an American painter whose work entirely focuses on depictions of American cartoon characters (some of her muses were Batman, the boys of South Park, Felix the Cat, the Simpsons family, Mickey Mouse + Donald Duck). She worked generally with enamel paint (the speed and luster of this medium helps enable her unique visual signature), and charcoal drawing (which was her supposed favorite way to work).

This work has me gobsmacked. The treatment of these with these characters as "sitters" who bear strange psychological scars inspired by their cartoon sterility-- and the subsequent quality and volume of work... What the heck? How is this possible?
