One artist who I've been really inspired by recently is Egon Schiele, a Austrian painter from the early 20th century. His work was pretty controversial because of the raw sexuality and naked self portraits within them. I really love his blotchy colors, but also how simple his work can be, with single lines and barely any shadowing, but still bringing so much across. Below is some of his stuff.
