Artist inspiration- Robert Rauschenberg (Maya McCollum)
Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008) was an artist who worked in a wide variety of mediums (painting, sculpture, photography, etc.). From 1954-64 he worked on a series he called combines- pieces constructed from everyday objects. My favorite pieces of his are his boxes, and considering our discussion of artwork relating to isolation a few weeks ago and our current confinement, it seemed appropriate. I really appreciate how despite all of these pieces being boxes in some sense or another, each one seems to embody something completely different than the next.
