I doubt these photos really count as portraiture, but I was recently on my roof and decided that I wanted to play around with my 10mm lens to create some shots against the sky. The photos came out very reminiscent of early 2000s editorial shoots, and I had a lot of fun setting up self-timer and jumping around. The 10mm helped add a lot of distortion and a monumental aspect along with the very low angle. I also played around a bit with Pixlr to create these edits of myself--perhaps trying to evoke the idea that despite quarantine, I can still transport my digital self to other places, be that the Pyramids of Giza or a Miyazaki backdrop. I would like to do other shoots similar to this, but I'm still trying to figure out how I would do that while maintaining originality--sky backdrops are fun but seem like they could become boring very quickly.
